WhatsappUpon arrival at Nyerere International Airport in Dar-Es-Salaam, you will be met or directed and transferred for overnight accommodation at Hotel in Dar es Salaam's city center. Your head guide will meet you for your briefing, After breakfast pick up from the hotel for your drive to Selous Game Reserve (Driving some 5-7 hours) one of the largest and oldest game reserves in Africa.
Experience a 4x4 game drive and stay at Rufiji River Camp (or a similar establishment). On a full-day 4x4 game drive, you can experience the diversity of wildlife in Nyerere (formerly Selous).
Don't forget to look out for the Big 5, as well as other big mammals and birds. In the evening, return to the tented camp for a relaxing evening. Drive back to Dar Es Salaam on day three, bidding farewell to this wild place.
The best time to take this 3 days safari in the southern park of Tanzania (Selous) is mostly during the dry season, which generally spans from June to October. During this time, wildlife is more concentrated around water sources, making it easier to spot animals during game drives. The weather is also relatively cooler and less humid, providing comfortable conditions for exploring the park.

Today is all about exploring the vast plains of Selous Game Reserve, named after the explorer Fredrick Selous. After an early lodge breakfast, your safari guide will accompany you on game drives in a four-wheel drive vehicle. This reserve covers 54,600 sq km, making it one of Africa's largest untouched wilderness areas. Its immense size led to its UNESCO World Heritage Site designation in 1982.
In 1982, Selous (now Nyerere National Park) became a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its immense size and nearly untouched wilderness. It's considered one of the largest pristine areas in Africa, featuring expansive plains, forests, rivers, and lakes that provide habitats for wildlife.
While on the game drives, you'll explore diverse wildlife habitats, including grassland plains, woodlands, and rocky outcrops formed by the Rufiji River. Search for Africa's Big Five and other species such as lions, zebras, elephants, impalas, and more. Your guide will stop for photos whenever you like. Look out for leopards, hyenas, and the endangered wild dogs. Southern areas have rhinos. Bird enthusiasts will also be thrilled by the forest, riverbank, and swampy area species. In the evening, return to Rufiji River Camp where a mouth-watering meal and a comfortable, relaxing evening await us

After breakfast, we'll depart Nyerere National Park for Dar Es Salaam. It's time to bid farewell to this extraordinary wilderness, one of Tanzania's largest parks. Enjoy a pleasant drive with delicious packed lunches. Later, your driver will take you back to Dar Es Salaam for your continued journey. You can be dropped off either at your hotel in Dar es Salaam's city center or at the Dar es Salaam International Airport if you're flying to Zanzibar or returning home, hoping for your return to Tanzania.
